Devadas Kanakala made his acting debut in 1975 with the Telugu film "Sambarala Rambabu" and went on to appear in over 200 films in his career. He was known for his versatile acting skills and comedic timing.

Apart from acting, Devadas Kanakala was also a prolific dubbing artist and lent his voice to many popular actors in Telugu films. He was the dubbing artist for actors like Prakash Raj, Nassar, and Sathyaraj among others.
